Sophie Dupont is the artist behind this year’s immersive exhibition BREATHE, inviting the whole family to take a deep breath. Experience how air, the body and community become art as you step into Sophie Dupont’s fascinating total installation.

In the immersive exhibition BREATHE, visual artist Sophie Dupont (b. 1975) turns her attention to air – our shared source of life, which we exchange through breathing. Here, the physical presence and active participation of children and adults create the pulse of the exhibition. The air is constantly transformed by the people who are present, and as a result, the exhibition takes shape according to its audience.

BREATHE consists of stations and exercises that heighten our awareness of breathing through sound, scent and movement. Spatial sculptures, meditative sounds and video projections come together, while performances and workshops activate the rest of the museum in a dynamic, living rhythm.

Dupont works with the concept of collective sculpture, inviting both local residents to take part in a series of video works and audiences to create the exhibition together with her.

Come and take a deep breath in BREATHE.

The exhibition is on view at Holstebro Kunstmuseum (7 February 2026 – 7 June 2026) and at Sorø Kunstmuseum (3 July 2026 – 18 October 2026).

Sophie Dupont: BREATHE is accompanied by a major monographic publication featuring contributions by Sanne Kofod Olsen, Alice Godwin, Anouska Kobus and Mathias Kryger, among others.

BREATHE is the second of a total of three immersive exhibitions for the whole family under the shared title SANS! Nye verdener (SENSE! New Worlds), created in collaboration between Sorø Kunstmuseum and Holstebro Kunstmuseum. The first exhibition in the series was FABRICA by Eva Steen Kristensen and Nikolaj Danielsen (2024).
